Peripatetic, itinerant, eclectic musings about books, politics, history, language, culture, and anything else that interests me.
Having read Voyage of the Beagle and The Origin of Species, I am now tackling the third of Charles Darwin’s four major books: The Descent of Man. (The fourth is The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals.) They are all four contained in Edward O. Wilson’s edited collection, From So Simple A Beginning: The Four Great Books of Charles Darwin.
At some point, I’d also like to read one of the several biographies that have been written about Darwin. Particularly the dual biography that David Contosta wrote of Darwin and Abraham Lincoln (they were both born on February 12, 1809).
