Scott McClellan’s tell-all about his time as press secretary in the Bush administration, What Happened?, is better than I expected it to be. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that a communications specialist knows how to write and tell a story. What makes the book so compelling, aside from the writing, is McClellan himself. He writes with enormous integrity, honesty, insight, and intelligence — and he does not spare himself.
